New Karimnagar Collectorate awaits inauguration

Karimnagar: The newly constructed Integrated District Offices Complex in Karimnagar, sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 51 crore, was completed in August 2026, nearly four years after its scheduled completion in December 2022. However, the facility is yet to be inaugurated.

The foundation stone for the complex was laid on December 29, 2021. Following partial demolition of the old Collectorate, offices of around 15 government departments were shifted to rented premises across the city, resulting in recurring expenditure running into lakhs of rupees every month.

The new complex includes a conference hall with seating for nearly 1,000 people, two smaller meeting halls, two video-conferencing rooms, a canteen, internal roads, green spaces and parking facilities.

Officials had reportedly planned an inauguration on August 16, with Collector Chitra Mishra reviewing arrangements for shifting departments. However, the proposed visit of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy led to uncertainty over the schedule. A fresh inauguration date has not yet been announced.
