TUDA fast-tracks 18.5-km road network at Rs 190.89 crore

Tirupati: Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) is speeding up the construction of eight master plan BT and CC roads covering about 18.5 km at an estimated cost of Rs 190.89 crore. TUDA Chairman Dr C Divakar Reddy inspected the proposed road locations along with senior officials from the engineering and planning departments on Sunday.

He said the road network was being developed to improve connectivity between Tirupati and surrounding areas, including Chandragiri, Srikalahasti and Nagari constituencies.

The new roads are aimed at easing traffic congestion and supporting the overall economic development of the region. The works would be completed within six months without compromising on quality.

The projects include 60, 80 and 100-foot-wide roads connecting key locations such as Settipalli Township, Karakambadi Road, NH-71, Kotramangalam, Ithepalli, Rangampeta and the Court Complex area.

A major 100-foot road from Aithepalli through Rangampeta, connecting NH-140 and NH-71, will be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 49 crore.

Another key project is the 100-foot road from the Court Complex Road Junction to Pudi Road Junction, estimated at Rs 44 crore. A 100-foot BT road from Tirupati NH-71 to the Court Complex Road Junction will also be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore.

Divakar Reddy said the roads were being planned keeping future traffic requirements and the expanding urban limits in mind. The works would be taken up on a priority basis and completed at the earliest. Once completed, the roads are expected to reduce traffic pressure on major routes, improve connectivity to surrounding villages.

The improved road network is also expected to support industrial and economic activity in and around Tirupati.

TUDA Secretary Dr NV Srikanth Babu, SE Ravindraiah, CPO Devi Kumari, Land Acquisition Officer Sujana and other officials participated in the inspection.
