YSRCP discusses strategy for upcoming local body elections

Tirupati: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) held a meeting of its leaders from the erstwhile Chittoor district to discuss preparations for the upcoming local body elections and other organisational issues.

YSRCP regional coordinator Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and district president Bhumana Karunakar Reddy along with former Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy and constituency coordinators attended the meeting held in Tirupati on Sunday.

The meeting discussed the party’s election strategy, candidate selection and preparations for filing nominations. Leaders were asked to identify suitable candidates and ensure that YSRCP nominees contest the local body elections.

Speaking at the meeting, Peddireddy alleged that several cases had been filed against YSRCP leaders, workers and social media activists during the 27-month rule of the coalition government. He said many party workers had faced harassment and financial losses.

He alleged that people were facing difficulties due to rising prices and that several promises made by the coalition government had not been fulfilled. Government has been using the police to suppress protests by secretariat employees. Peddireddy said the previous YSRCP government had recruited 1.26 lakh secretariat employees and alleged irregularities in the recruitment of 16,000 DSC posts under the present government. He also alleged that industries were moving out of Andhra Pradesh and said they would return if YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came back to power.

He reacalled that despite the court ruling against 50 percent reservations, the YSRCP had provided 50 percent seats to BCs in local body elections. He alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to prevent him from entering Kuppam and questioned whether the elections would be conducted freely.
