9,884 child scientists register for NCSC

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science & Technology (APCOST) Member Secretary and 32nd National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2026-27 State Principal Coordinator Dr K Sarath Kumar said that as many as 9,884 child scientists have registered for 32nd National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2026–27 in Andhra Pradesh, with 2,554 projects submitted at State level.
A meeting of District Coordinators (DCs) and District Academic Coordinators (DACs) of NCSC was held at APCOST State Office in Vijayawada on Saturday. The meeting was conducted under the directions of Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, who is also Chairman of Executive Committee of APCOST, and Principal Secretary Kantilal Dande.
The major thematic areas of 32nd NCSC include R5 for Waste Management—Reduce, Reuse, Retrieve, Redesign and Recycle; E4 for Energy—Explore, Experiment, Enhance and Evolve; Water—Harvesting, Harnessing, Recycling and Conservation; Food, Agriculture and Health; and the Application of Indian Knowledge Systems for Sustainability.
Reviewing the progress of registrations and project submissions, Dr Sarath Kumar said 4,942 groups had been registered, of which 3,665 had been approved. Another 1,063 groups were on hold or under review, while 214 groups had been rejected. He said girls accounted for 53% of the registered child scientists, compared to 47% boys. Students from Junior category (10–14 years) and Senior category (14–17 years), besides children with disabilities, were participating in the programme. He said district-level scrutiny of projects was scheduled for November first week, followed by State-level scrutiny in December first week.
He called upon District Coordinators, District Academic Coordinators and guide teachers to work in close coordination to ensure effective evaluation and selection of projects.
NTR District Educational Officer (DEO) L Chandrakala, Samagra Shiksha Additional Project Coordinator (APC) R Ramesh Babu, State Academic Coordinator Mynam Hussian and expert members Dr A Narendra Babu, Dr P Satya Srinivas Babu, Indudhara Rao and Dr K Ch Sri Kavya participated in the meeting.
