Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has received the prestigious ‘Leadership State in Renewable Energy Investment Mobilisation Award’ for its significant contribution to attracting investments in the renewable energy sector. The award was presented at the eighth International Trade Fair and Conference — Windergy India 2026 — held at the Chennai Trade Centre on Thursday.
The state was recognised for sanctioning 97 mega clean energy projects worth an estimated Rs.4 lakh crore, with the potential to generate 4.71 lakh jobs, since June 2024. Union minister for new and renewable energy Pralhad Joshi and Tamil Nadu Minister for energy resources and law C T R Nirmal Kumar presented the award during the inaugural session. On behalf of the Andhra Pradesh Government, NREDCAP vice-chairman and managing director M Kamalakar Babu received the award.
The sanctioned projects include 26.45 GW of solar and 5.86 GW of wind power capacity, besides 19.95 GW of pumped storage hydro projects aimed at ensuring round-the-clock grid stability.
The state has also approved 12.6 MWh of battery energy storage systems, 2.20 MMTPA of green hydrogen and its derivatives, 2 GW of domestic electrolyser manufacturing capacity and compressed bio-gas units with a combined production capacity of 11,521 tonnes per day.
The three-day Windergy India 2026 conference, being held from October 7 to 9, is jointly organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Power and Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association. International delegates and industry experts appreciated Andhra Pradesh’s investor-friendly policies, faster statutory clearances and focus on developing a comprehensive clean energy ecosystem.
