BJP state unit president P V N Madhav and other leaders pay tributes to Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary in Vijayawada on Friday
Vijayawada: The principles of integral humanism and Antyodaya propounded by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya continue to guide society and governments and provide a pathway for comprehensive development, said BJP state unit president P V N Madhav. He was speaking at a programme organised to mark Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary at his statue in Labbipet here on Friday.
Madhav said that when the world was divided between capitalism and communism, Upadhyaya propounded integral humanism based on Indian thought. He advocated viewing a human being not merely as an economic entity but as a complete individual with physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual needs.
Madhav said Upadhyaya had expanded the concept of Sarvodaya advocated by Mahatma Gandhi through his philosophy of Antyodaya. True development, he said, could be achieved only when the benefits of government welfare and development reached the last person in society. He recalled that Upadhyaya had stressed decades ago that people’s happiness and welfare should be the primary measures of government policies and performance.
Madhav said Upadhyaya had also offered far-sighted views on environmental protection, sustainable development, the family system, social relationships and spiritual values. He recalled that Upadhyaya, who had served as the national president of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, died under suspicious circumstances on February 11, 1968. He said Upadhyaya should be remembered as a visionary who introduced Indian thought to the world.
BJP state general secretaries Nagothu Ramesh Naidu and Sannareddy Dayakar Reddy, senior State leader P Suresh Reddy, state government 20-Point Programme chairman Lanka Dinakar, NTR district BJP president Adduri Sriram, state secretary Kethineni Surendra Mohan, Kisan Morcha state president Chigurupati Kumaraswamy, Minority Morcha state president Syed Basha, state media in-charge Kilari Dileep and other leaders were among those present.
