Vijayawada: A team from the AMRUT Centre under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) inspected various development works taken up under the AMRUT scheme in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

The team comprising AMRUT and MoHUA Technical Consultant Dr Avinash K Varma and Deputy Adviser Vipin Kumar Patel visited the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Ramalingeswara Nagar, Elevated Level Service Reservoir (ELSR) at Ranigarithota and AMRUT Park at HB Colony.

The team reviewed the progress of works and the maintenance conditions of the facilities at the field level.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Additional Commissioner (Projects) Dr D Chandrasekhar and Chief Engineer P Satyakumari explained the details of the works being implemented under the AMRUT scheme.

They discussed the progress of the projects, construction quality, technical aspects and services being provided to the public with the central team. Dr Chandrasekhar said the AMRUT scheme was playing a key role in strengthening urban infrastructure, sewage treatment and drinking water supply systems in the city.

He said steps were being taken to complete the projects in accordance with prescribed standards and quality norms and ensure better services to citizens.

Representatives of APUFIDC and PDMC, including Mohammed Bhutto, Team Leader, South Region; V Jayaprakash, Deputy Team Leader, North Region; VMC Superintending Engineer (Projects) K Dushyanth; Executive Engineer Surekha and other engineering staff participated in the inspection.
