Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board director and minority leader Shaik Khaja from Vijayawada joined the TDP on Thursday.
TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao welcomed Khaja into the party by draping the TDP scarf around him at the party central office in Mangalagiri.
Ministers NMD Farooq and Savitha, Vijayawada West TDP in-charge Buddha Venkanna, Waqf Board Chairman Aziz, Krsihna Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha chairman M S Baig, Urdu Academy chairman Farooq Shubli and others congratulated Khaja on his joining the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Khaja said he decided to join the TDP, impressed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision and his efforts towards the development of the state. He said Naidu was extending support to Muslim minorities in the State.
Khaja said he would work to strengthen the TDP under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and party general secretary Nara Lokesh.
Waqf Board directors Akram and Mukram Hussain, former corporators Yedupati Ramaiah and Pathi Nageswara Rao, SAAP director Santosh, Sahul, son of former MLA Jaleel Khan, Vemuri Mallikarjuna, Guduri Bujji, Mustaq Ahmed, president of Bhavanipuram Ghalib Shahid Dargah, and local TDP leaders and supporters were present.
