1,182-kg of silver offerings of Simhachalam sent to Hyd Mint

Visakhapatnam: Silver ornaments and other valuable articles offered to the deity at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Simhachalam by devotees in hundis were sent to the Government of India Mint in Hyderabad for purification and security procedures. As part of it, a total of 1,182-kg, 846-gram and 370-milligram (1,182.846 kg) of silver offerings were transported to Hyderabad in a specially-arranged vehicle under tight security.

Devasthanam Executive Officer Jallepalli Venkata Rao formally flagged-off the security vehicle by breaking a coconut on the temple premises before the consignment journey began.

Speaking on the occasion, the EO mentioned that the silver offerings made by devotees with great devotion were being transported to the Government of India Mint at Cherlapalli under the close supervision of police and temple security personnel.

He stated that, following the prescribed procedures, the silver would be melted and purified at the Mint.

The purified silver will further be deposited in the bank account maintained in the name of the Lord Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, following applicable norms.
