A proposal of 800-acre IT hub mooted in Yarada
In Short
Expansion of IT sector in Yarada could generate substantial employment and livelihood opportunities for local youth

Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao, district Collector Abhishikth Kishore and others during field visit in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Gajuwaka MLA and TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao is focusing on developing Gajuwaka as a key centre for the IT, industrial and tourism sectors.
In line with this, along with district Collector Abhiskhith Kishore, RDO and Tahsildar, the MLA conducted a field-level inspection of nearly 800 acres at Yarada to explore its potential for IT, knowledge-and technology-driven industries and tourism development.
After reviewing the extent and status of the land, existing infrastructure and development potential of Yarada hill region, Srinivasa Rao directed officials to examine the feasibility of developing the scenic location as a hub for IT companies, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), startups and other knowledge-and technology-driven enterprises.
He said the expansion of the IT sector in the area could generate substantial employment and livelihood opportunities for local youth. Palla Srinivasa Rao mentioned that a bridge connecting Sagaradurga Temple at Yarada, across the canal, towards Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in One Town area would significantly improve connectivity to Yarada.
He said the proposed bridge could enable people to reach the main city from Yarada within 15–20 minutes, while also providing better transport connectivity for IT professionals and local residents. Improved connectivity, he said, would provide further impetus not only to IT and industrial development in Yarada but also to beach and spiritual tourism in the region.
The MLA stated that the coalition government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, was working to position Andhra Pradesh as an investment-industry-technology-friendly destination.
In alignment with the efforts of IT Minister Nara Lokesh to attract investments in the IT, electronics and technology sectors, the available opportunities in Gajuwaka should be effectively leveraged, he suggested. The development of an IT hub at Yarada would provide further impetus to Visakhapatnam’s economic growth and create new employment opportunities for local youth, he stated.
Proposals were sought to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the infrastructure, connectivity and other requirements for the integrated development of the IT and tourism sectors.
