Visakhapatnam: Focusing on ‘safety, dignity and inclusion’ at the workplace, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) -Indian Women Network (IWN) Andhra Pradesh chapter organised a state-level roundtable in Visakhapatnam.

Representatives from various organisations and diverse professional backgrounds shared different perspectives on the theme and flagged workplace concerns, challenges and the way forward.

During discussions, participants emphasised hosting advocacy drives and awareness sessions at periodical intervals to improve understanding of policies and frameworks. They highlighted the importance of effectively implementing PoSH Act (Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace-Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013) and constituting robust Internal Committees that could resolve complaints in an unbiased manner.

According to Pantula Usha, chairwoman of IWN AP chapter, the roundtable intended to examine key areas of safety, dignity, and inclusion and identify priorities for IWN Southern Region’s Policy Advocacy agenda towards India@100. “Feedback collected from the participants will be considered for exchanging workplace best practices and developing concrete measures to overcome challenges,” Usha informed.

The roundtable served as a resourceful platform to bring forward lapses in policies and committees, power distance and fear of retaliation when concerns get flagged, and whether zero complaints literally mean ‘zero’, and so on.

Managing director of Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre and past chair of CII AP V Murali Krishna, Director of Business Development at Inland Psychiatric Medical Group and chair Yi Vizag Deepa Kodali, founder of Gulab Tribe LLP Shilpanjani Dantu, consultant - social sustainability and governance, Brandix India Vasudha Tummala, among others, contributed to the diverse perspectives shared at the roundtable.
