Commercial flight operations had started at the new Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram and had received its first commercial flight when IndiGo flight 6E 6408 from Hyderabad landed at around 6:45 am. The flight touched down in Vizianagaram district where the passengers have been welcomed by the GMR officials, district authorities and Airport officials.

The traditional handicraft Etikoppaka toys was handed over to the passengers as a token of remembrance of their first arrival at the new airport as part of the welcome ceremony.

The first flight from Bhogapuram to Hyderabad then took off around 7:30 am. Services between Bhogapuram and both Hyderabad and Bengaluru via IndiGo were to be run and a Bengaluru flight was also due to land at the airport.

In order to enhance the connectivity of airport and city, 20 electric buses have been arranged to run between the airport and the city of Visakhapatanam.

Opening of Bhogapuram Airport also represents a significant paradigm change in commercial aviation services in the region. Civil operations at Visakhapatnam airport have ended with the opening of the new airport.

The Bhogapuram airport will play a key role in boosting air connectivity in the region, and is likely to be the new commercial aviation hub of the city and its surrounding areas.

Always love to raise the unraised matter. In a world of worries, I am always ready to come over my comfort zone and taking the step ahead of spreading awareness.
