Visakhapatnam: Following a disturbing incident wherein the braids of some of the Class IX girl students were reportedly chopped off at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Krishnapuram, Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao informed that a detailed probe has been launched into the incident.
After visiting the school, enquiring about the incident with the institution’s management and interacting with the students, the Bheemunipatnam MLA stated that the investigation is in progress and those involved will not be spared. The bizarre incident, which came to light on Sunday, raised serious concerns about the safety and security of the students at the residential school. Some of the Class IX students approached the hostel management and complained that their hair was cut when they were asleep. Over 35 Class IX students study at KGBV, Bheemunipatnam and two rooms have been allocated for them. The plaits of close to 10 girls in both rooms were cut while they were sleeping. Initially, there was suspicion that miscreants found their way onto the campus and caused panic among the students. The police are collecting evidence from the students and CCTV footage to trace those involved in the incident.
Later, speaking to the media about the city’s water shortage, Srinivasa Rao stated that the issue was brought to the notice of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had already directed the concerned officials to look into it and address it urgently. Based on the requirement, the MLA informed that bulk water connections will be facilitated to apartments in the constituency.
