Visakhapatnam: The coalition government has been implementing several welfare and livelihood programmes with an objective to enable women in the state to achieve economic progress and become self-reliant, said East constituency MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu.
Inaugurating the newly-established Millet Mart canteen, set up under the GVMC–MEPMA initiative, at the ground floor of the GVMC head office here on Tuesday, the MLA noted that it was noteworthy that healthy millet-based breakfast items, along with Araku coffee, were being made available at the canteen. He urged the public, officers and employees visiting the GVMC to make use of the facility. Speaking on the occasion, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg stated that the responsibility of managing the Millet Mart has been entrusted to K Venkatalakshmi, a member of the Vijayadurga Self-Help Group under MEPMA.
GVMC Additional Commissioners PM Satyaveni, DV Ramana Murthy, SS Varma and K Ramesh, east zonal commissioner K Sivaprasad, DRDA Project Director B Lakshmipathi, senior officials, representatives of the GVMC Contractors’ Association, officers, staff and members of women Self-Help Groups, among others, participated in the programme.
