City police intensified their night inspections at bus stations in Visakhapatnam.
Visakhapatnam: In a bid to strengthen public safety and prevent criminal activities, Dwaraka and Arilova police personnel conducted extensive night inspections at the Dwaraka Bus Complex and Maddilapalem bus station, surrounding commercial establishments and isolated areas on Saturday night.
The inspections were carried out based on City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi’s instructions and as part of his efforts to enhance security in public places and keep a close watch on suspicious movements during night hours.
During the operation, police personnel checked individuals moving around with heavy luggage late at night, verified their identity cards and examined their travel details. Police also inspected two-wheelers and other vehicles, verifying the relevant vehicle documents.
Police teams visited shops operating in and around the RTC depot premises and instructed shopkeepers to close their establishments on time as a precautionary measure. As part of the public awareness initiative, police counselled passengers and the public on the importance of luggage safety while travelling at night. They also sensitised people about emergency helpline numbers 100 and 112, urging them to seek police assistance whenever necessary. The police reported that no suspicious individuals were found during the checks. The coordinated inspections reflect the police department’s focus on strengthening night-time surveillance, preventing potential security threats and ensuring a safer environment for commuters, residents and businesses in the city.
