Visakhapatnam: A new batch of students began their academic journey at Satya Degree & PG College in Vizianagaram, marking a grand Freshers’ Day celebration on campus.
Attending as chief guest, Tanthravahi Srinivasan, Vice-Chancellor, Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, Vizianagaram, emphasised the importance of quality education, good health, moral values, ethics and discipline.
He advised students to set ambitious goals, develop leadership qualities and make meaningful use of their academic years to build a strong and purposeful future.Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi, secretary and correspondent, Satya Group of Educational Institutions and former Member of Parliament, advised students to make the best use of the facilities, faculty and technology available on the campus.
She encouraged them to develop knowledge, skills and a responsible outlook to achieve success and contribute positively to society.Majji Sashibhushana Rao, director of the institution, welcomed the freshers and said the institution gives equal importance to academics, skill development and cultural activities for students’ holistic development.
He advised the students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to face future challenges. Referring to the rapidly changing world, he described the present environment as HUCA — hyperconnected, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. He urged students to respond to these challenges by being honest, continuously upskilling, showing courage and adapting to changing circumstances.
MV Sai Deva Mani, Principal of the college advised students to maintain discipline and effectively use the academic, technological and developmental opportunities provided by the institution.
DV Ramamurthy, Principal, SITAM, highlighted the importance of education, discipline, punctuality, a positive attitude and continuous skill enhancement in an era of rapidly evolving technology. As part of the Freshers’ Day celebrations, various competitions were held for the new students, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talent, creativity, confidence and competitive spirit.
The winners received certificates and medals. The Freshers’ Day celebrations also featured impressive cultural performances, including dances, songs, music and skits presented by students.
