Visakhapatnam: In a step towards strengthening tourist safety and security, a new police outpost has been established at Kailasagiri, one of Visakhapatnam’s most popular tourist destinations.

The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) facilitated the outpost in coordination with the city police department. After inaugurating the new outpost on Wednesday in the presence of Visakhapatnam East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishnababu and City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi, VMRDA chairperson MV Pranav Gopal mentioned that the steadily increasing number of tourists visiting Kailasagiri necessitated strengthening security arrangements at the spot.

The new police outpost is established to ensure visitor safety and convenience, with police personnel available to address concerns and provide prompt assistance.

“Required arrangements were made in view of the anticipated increase in tourist footfall during the Dussehra holidays. Considering the growing traffic congestion on the Kailasagiri ghat road, steps will soon be taken to construct an alternative road to improve traffic management and provide smoother access to the hilltop,” Pranav Gopal informed. Speaking on the occasion, City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi stressed the importance of providing tourists with a safe and hassle-free experience. He said that adequate security measures must be in place, particularly in locations that draw heavy tourist movement.

The police department will extend the necessary assistance and services at the new outpost to ensure visitor safety and convenience.

The inauguration marks another step towards city police and VMRDA’s consistent efforts to improve tourist infrastructure and security at Kailasagiri, making Visakhapatnam a safer and more visitor-friendly destination.

Among others, DCP Manikantha, ACPs Malleswara Rao and Srinivasa Rao, and CI Srinivas were present.
