Visakhapatnam: Despite several challenges, India is progressing rapidly recording an economic growth rate of 7.8 per cent under the effective leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu.
Addressing the first Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Regional Conference held at IIM Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, Ram Mohan Naidu said the current decade belongs to India and stressed the need to transform challenges into opportunities.
“This decade belongs to India. We are creating miracles by turning difficulties into opportunities. Choose speed… Choose Andhra Pradesh,” he underlined.
The Union Minister said Andhra Pradesh is moving towards a development path under the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan. He described IT Minister Nara Lokesh as an important force in the state’s development journey.
He emphasised that speedy implementation of projects is crucial for attracting investments. Through the APIIC single-window mechanism, the government is expediting approvals and working to complete the process within 6 to 12 months. The streamlined process is encouraging investors to establish industries in Andhra Pradesh at a faster pace, he mentioned.
Ram Mohan Naidu stated that the Chief Minister is planning development keeping the requirements and opportunities that emerge over the next 25 years.
“Visakhapatnam is increasingly emerging as the ‘Gateway of the Economy’, with rapid development taking place across various sectors. The Centre and the state are working together with new ideas and a long-term vision to accelerate development,” he said.
Highlighting the growth of the aviation sector, the Union Minister informed that efforts are being made to open an airport every 45 days, reflecting the unprecedented expansion taking place in the country’s aviation sector. He further said the government is focusing on developing skilled workforce required by the aviation industry, with an objective of preparing 5,000 aviation professionals.
“Despite all the difficulties and challenges faced, India is moving forward with a growth rate of 7.8 per cent,” Ram Mohan Naidu reiterated.
At the summit held here on Wednesday, the Government of Andhra Pradesh concluded the first of these conferences at IIM Visakhapatnam. In a single day, 31 MoUs worth Rs.21,498 crore were signed, potentially creating 56,945 jobs. A further 33 projects worth Rs.3,518.73 crore were grounded and inaugurated, potentially creating 9,449 jobs: 8 SIPB projects, 3 tourism projects and 22 MSME units.
Ministers BC Janardhan Reddy and TG Bharath, MPs M Sribharat and Kalisetti Appalanaidu, CII representatives and IIM-V officials, and the Collectors from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam participated in the conference.
