In Short
Commissioner reviews ongoing development works at Kailasagiri and discusses proposals to improve infrastructure

VMRDA in-charge Commissioner Ketan Garg during his field visit in Visakhapatnam on Saturday
Visakhapatnam: VMRDA in-charge Commissioner Ketan Garg directed officials to take necessary steps to develop an alternative road to Kailasagiri, one of Visakhapatnam’s most popular tourist spots.
During a field visit to Kailasagiri and Thotlakonda on Saturday, the Commissioner reviewed ongoing development works and discussed proposals to improve infrastructure and attract more tourists. With only one main road currently providing access to Kailasagiri, Ketan Garg instructed officials to develop the proposed Ghat Road as an alternative route, considering future requirements and the increasing number of visitors.
He directed officials to develop Kailasagiri in a more attractive and aesthetically appealing manner. Officials informed him that visitor footfall had increased significantly following the establishment of the glass bridge and Trishul attractions at the hilltop. The Commissioner suggested preparing proposals for setting up an energy park at Kailasagiri and directed officials to identify a suitable location for the project.
Officials also brought to his notice that the resort construction works undertaken earlier remained incomplete. They informed him that proposals had now been prepared for the construction of 25 rooms.
Observing that the hospitality sector is witnessing significant growth in Visakhapatnam, Ketan Garg mentioned that several large-scale hotel projects were coming up between the city and Bheemili. He instructed officials to convene a meeting with owners of prominent city hotels, seek their suggestions and recommendations, and then prepare suitable development proposals based on their feedback.
He further suggested incorporating the available lands at Kailasagiri into Kailasagiri master plan, which is currently under preparation, so they could be effectively utilised to meet future requirements. The Commissioner ordered a comprehensive review of all development proposals aimed at attracting more tourists and visitors to Kailasagiri.
Later, Ketan Garg inspected a site proposed by VMRDA for new development at Thotlakonda. He suggested developing a park adjacent to the Beach Road to provide a pleasant recreational environment for residents and tourists. Officials were directed to prepare detailed proposals for the project. Later, the Commissioner inspected various layouts VMRDA is developing and reviewed their progress.
He sought details regarding the availability of house plots, infrastructure facilities being provided and the proposed development works. VMRDA Secretary Murali Krishna, EO Dayanidhi, CE Vinay Kumar, DFO Ramana Murthy, additional secretary Rushibabu, AO Venkateswara Rao, SE Rambabu and other officials and staff participated in the field visit.
