BRS leaders stand firmly with poor families on land dispute
Hanumakonda: Former MP Boinapally Vinod Kumar and former MLA DasyamVinay Bhaskar have urged the state government to protect the land rights of poor families who have been living in huts and small houses in Kazipet for the past 22 to 24 years.
Addressing a programme in support of the residents on Monday, the BRS leaders said it was unjust to question the ownership of homes occupied by poor families for decades. They alleged that land titles had been registered in the names of people who did not reside in the area under the newly introduced Bhu Bharathi records.
They demanded a comprehensive inquiry to establish whether the disputed land belonged to the government or private individuals and urged officials to consider the long-standing occupation of eligible families. Vinod Kumar said a petition would be submitted to the District Collector seeking verification of the provisional land records and registration of eligible residents’ names. He also assured that the BRS would seek legal advice and approach the High Court if necessary.
Warning against attempts to demolish houses or render families homeless, he said the BRS and its pink flag would stand firmly with the poor. CPM leaders, public association representatives, former chairman Yadav Reddy, former corporators and local residents attended the programme.
