Hanumakonda: Parakala MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy said the Congress Praja Government is strengthening cooperative societies to create greater economic and social opportunities for farmers. He inaugurated a 250-metric-tonne-capacity fertiliser godown and shopping complex at Ramachandrapuram village in Sangem mandal on Friday, along with District Collector Satyasharada.
Revuri said Kapulakanaparthi Society has been serving farmers and stressed the need to protect and further strengthen cooperative institutions. He said 1,907 farmers associated with the society had benefited from a loan waiver amounting to ₹14.77 crore.
The MLA said the new godown would help ensure timely availability of fertilisers, while the shopping complex would improve the society’s services. He said the government would extend full support to cooperatives.
He added that food-processing units would be established to increase farmers’ incomes through value addition. He also said a Parakala Indira Mahila Dairy would be established with women’s participation. DCO Neeraja, District Agriculture Officer Vijayabhaskar, Society Chairman Dommati Sampath, Sarpanch Puli Ramesh and others attended.
