Hanumakonda: Warangal Commissioner of Police N. Swetha has directed officials to take immediate and comprehensive measures to prevent road accidents across the Warangal Police Commissionerate limits.
On Tuesday, the CP inspected 22 accident-prone locations along the Warangal–Khammam and Warangal–Karimnagar National Highways with officials from various departments. She examined road conditions, traffic movement, accident causes and existing traffic-control arrangements. Of the identified black spots, 14 are located on the Warangal–Khammam highway and eight on the Warangal–Karimnagar highway. Official data showed that the Warangal–Khammam stretch witnessed 108 accidents and 80 deaths over the past three years, while the Warangal–Karimnagar highway recorded 79 accidents and 37 fatalities. Swetha instructed officials to strengthen surveillance, improve road safety infrastructure and address identified risk factors in coordination with NHAI, R&B, municipal, transport, traffic and police departments.
