Murder in Madipally, 12 people attacked Ramesh

WARANGAL: A brutal mob attack left a local man dead in Madipalli village of Thorrur mandal on Wednesday, police said.

Victim identified as Guntuka Ramesh, a member of the Mudiraj community, was reportedly assaulted by around 12 people from the same social group with stones and sticks during the fifth-day mourning rites for a villager.

Sources said Ramesh tried to flee toward a village tank at the outskirts, but the attackers chased him and continued the assault. He suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.

Ramesh is survived by his wife and two daughters. Local police, after receiving information, reached the scene, inspected the site and seized several stones and sticks believed to have been used in the attack.

The body was taken to Mahabubabad Area Hospital for post-mortem. Authorities have registered a murder case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the violence and identifying those involved. A search for the suspects is underway, police said.
