Hanumakonda: Kuda Chairperson Gundu Sudharani said that the government has taken up the Poshan Masam programme as part of the efforts to prevent maternal and child mortality and achieve a healthy Telangana. She said that nutrition does not mean just providing food, but also shaping a healthy future generation.
The district level ‘Poshan Mela’ was organised grandly on Friday as part of ‘Poshan Masah-2026’ under the auspices of the Women and Child Welfare Department. Kuda Chairperson Gundu Sudharani, District Collector Chahat Bajpai, Additional Collectors Ravi, Seshadri and others attended the programme.
Speaking, Collector Chahat Bajpai instructed the officials to organise Poshan Masam programmes in the district in coordination with all departments. She said that the programme aims to improve the nutritional level of pregnant, lactating and children by providing nutritious food through Anganwadi centers. He suggested that people should be made aware of its importance along with providing nutritious food. As part of the program, Gundu Sudharani and Collector Chahat Bajpai traditionally performed Srimantham to the pregnant women and presented Seemantap Saare. A food drive was organized for seven-month-old children with nutritious food.
