Vinay Bhaskar injured in scuffle with cops at MGM Hospital

Hanamkonda: Senior BRS leader and former MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar sustained injuries during a scuffle with the police personnel who tried to block his entry into the MGM Hospital in Warangal on Tuesday.

Vinay Bhaskar visited MGM Hospital along with BRS cadres to check on the condition of patients who had got injuries as the ceiling plaster had fallen in the Arogyasri ward and the ICU ward respectively of the hospital on Sunday and Monday.

According to sources, tension prevailed when police obstructed Vinay Bhaskar.

A scuffle and heated arguments broke out between the police and BRS cadres at the hospital’s main gate. The BRS cadres attempted to enter the hospital. The situation turned tense as the BRS cadres raised slogans against the Chief Minister.

During the scuffle with the police, Vinay Bhaskar sustained injuries to his leg and arm and was bleeding. He alleged that the police pushed him, kicked him in the stomach, and caused a fracture in his arm. He condemned the police action of blocking him while he was visiting MGM Hospital to check on patients in his capacity as a former public representative.

He criticised the Congress government, alleging that their version of “people’s governance” amounted to suppressing voices that question authority. He demanded that the government be held accountable for the attack on him. Subsequently, when the police attempted to shift Vinay Bhaskar to private hospital Ajara Hospital for treatment, he insisted on being treated at MGM Hospital itself. He alleged a conspiracy behind the move to shift him to a private hospital instead of the government hospital where he sought care, reiterating his demand for treatment at MGM.

Vinay Bhaskar further alleged that the government has remained indifferent to long-standing issues at MGM Hospital, such as the shortage of beds, frequent collapse of ceiling plaster, and a lack of ambulances. They expressed concern over the lack of safety for patients’ lives in a crucial government hospital that provides medical care to the poor.

They demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the incidents occurring at the hospital and action against those responsible, as well as an inspection of the building’s safety and immediate repairs. They also urged the authorities to ensure adequate beds, ambulances, improved medical services, and safety measures for patients.
