Kathmandu: The Nepal Army rescued a Chinese national alive from a hydropower tunnel on Saturday, 10 days after floods hit the Himalayan nation's Nuwakot town, even as over 1,300 people were killed and more than 5,000 remain missing in the August 26 Nepal flash floods.

The man was pulled alive from a 225-metre tunnel and is undergoing a health assessment. He was later confirmed as a Chinese citizen by the Nepal Prime Minister’s Office.

The Nepal Army also rescued a woman alive from a house, officials said. She is being airlifted to the capital, Kathmandu, for treatment.
