Disha Salian Case: Sanjay Raut Calls CBI FIR Political Conspiracy, Says Thackerays Being Targeted
In Short
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has criticised the CBI FIR in the Disha Salian case, calling it a political conspiracy aimed at damaging the Thackeray family and targeting Aaditya Thackeray.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has criticised the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) FIR
Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has criticised the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) FIR in the death case of Disha Salian, alleging that the development is part of a political conspiracy against the Thackeray family.
Raut claimed that the investigation was being used to target Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and alleged that the case was being revived for political reasons.
Speaking to reporters, Raut questioned the manner in which the case reached the CBI and said the Bombay High Court had directed the agency to conduct an investigation without specifically naming individuals as accused.
“The way the matter was taken to court, which gave an order (to hand over the case to CBI), is a conspiracy. It has specifically said to conduct a CBI probe, but do not name anyone. Yet names are being taken in the media,” Raut said, according to news agency PTI.
Raut Alleges Political Motive Behind CBI Probe
Raut alleged that the CBI investigation was being “weaponised” against Aaditya Thackeray, who has been vocal in his criticism of the Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief called the move as an effort to tarnish the image of the Thackeray family. He further said that the case was being used to divert the attention from the other political issues of the day such as agitation by Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange.
Raut further claimed that pressure was being created on Shiv Sena (UBT) in connection with the proposed delimitation bill in Parliament.
These claims are Raut’s political allegations, and there has been no independent confirmation that the CBI investigation was initiated for these reasons.
What Is The Disha Salian Case?
Disha Salian, who had briefly worked as the manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. She was 28.
Her death was initially recorded as an accidental death before being treated as a suicide.
Salian’s death attracted renewed public attention after Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence six days later, on June 14, 2020. The proximity of the two deaths led to speculation about a possible connection between them.
However, the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death have remained the subject of competing claims and political controversy.
CBI Registers FIR After Bombay High Court Order
The CBI recently registered an FIR in connection with Salian’s death following directions from the Bombay High Court on a petition filed by her father.
The FIR does not name any person as an accused, in line with the court’s directions, although several names and allegations connected to the case have since featured in public and media discussions.
The agency’s investigation is now expected to examine the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death and allegations raised over the handling of the case.
Being mentioned in connection with an investigation or allegations does not by itself establish criminal wrongdoing, and the findings of the CBI probe will determine the facts of the case.
