Gurugram Hit-And-Run: Accused Kalyan Bainsla Denies Deliberately Hitting Woman Biker

The man accused of chasing and hitting a woman biker on Gurugram's Golf Course Road has denied deliberately crashing his car into her motorcycle, saying the collision was accidental.

Kalyan Bainsla, speaking to India Today TV, claimed the incident occurred on Sunday morning while he was travelling with his cousin. According to Bainsla, two bikers repeatedly overtook his car, moved ahead of him and then slowed down.

“I did not hit them intentionally,” Bainsla said, while expressing regret that the woman was injured.

The incident came to light after videos recorded by cameras mounted on the bikers' motorcycles surfaced online and went viral. The woman involved has alleged that the car followed her and was being driven aggressively before hitting her motorcycle.

Accused Disputes Viral Video Account

Bainsla claimed the videos circulating on social media did not show the entire sequence of events. He said the bikers repeatedly moved in front of his car and slowed down.

He also urged investigators to examine CCTV footage from the area to establish what happened.

According to his version, the bikers turned their motorcycle without checking the car's mirror and subsequently lost control, leading to the collision.

“Let's assume that the collision happened accidentally. I accept that a mistake happened,” Bainsla said.

He maintained that he had been asking the bikers to slow down rather than trying to hit them. Bainsla also said the complete footage should be examined before drawing conclusions about the incident.

Bainsla Says He Did Not Know Woman Was Riding Bike

Bainsla said he was sorry that the woman was injured but claimed he was unaware that she was riding the motorcycle when the collision occurred.

“I am sorry that a mistake happened. I did not know that there was a girl on it,” he said.

He further said he would respond publicly if allegations against him began affecting his family.

Bainsla also claimed that he had never previously faced a criminal case.

Woman's Account Differs From Accused's Version

The woman's account of the incident is substantially different from Bainsla's.

She has alleged that the car followed her on Golf Course Road and that the driver behaved aggressively before the vehicle swerved into her motorcycle. She has also said that she intends to file a formal complaint with the assistance of her lawyer.

A fellow biker's helmet camera reportedly captured events after the collision as well. The footage showed the rider briefly confronting the car's driver when the vehicle stopped at a traffic signal before it drove away.

Gurugram Police took suo motu cognizance of the occurrence and filed a formal complaint against an unidentified individual as a result of the viral recordings.

CCTV footage and other relevant recordings are likely to be crucial in determining the chronology of events, and the contradicting testimonies are now anticipated to be investigated as part of the police investigation.
