MP govt to launch bus service on Sep 25: CM Mohan Yadav

Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Friday that the state government will launch the 'Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Bus Seva' on September 25.

The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing the inaugural session of the Passenger Transport Vision Summit-2026 at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore.

"The government's goal is to provide citizens with a bus service that is accessible, convenient, safe, modern and reliable. The launch on September 25 marks a new step towards achieving this objective," CM Yadav said.

He added that Madhya Pradesh has a road network of around five lakh kilometres and there is scope for operating more than 15,000 buses in the state.

The Chief Minister said the state receives a large number of tourists and pilgrims every year, making passenger transport an important requirement.

"Our (Madhya Pradesh) government has formulated this bus service scheme keeping in mind the interests of all sections of society, prioritising passenger convenience and safety through modern technology, while also safeguarding the interests of those involved in the transport business," he added.

Chief Minister Yadav invited private bus operators, bus manufacturers, industry representatives and other stakeholders to participate in the development of the passenger transport system in the state.

He said the state government would work towards creating a public transport model that gives priority to passengers and uses modern technology.

Transport and School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh said the new service would focus on safe, accessible and technology-enabled transport and help connect rural areas with cities.

Transport Secretary Manish Singh said route surveys had been conducted in all 55 districts.

Plans have been prepared for around 150 city, 450 inter-city and 436 inter-state routes, he added.

Priority will be given to electric and CNG buses equipped with CCTV cameras, GPS, panic buttons and real-time monitoring systems, Singh said.

The service is being developed through Madhya Pradesh Passenger Transport and Infrastructure Limited (MPYPIL) under a public-private partnership model.

During the summit, Chief Minister Yadav also launched the 'Madhya Pradesh Mobility Innovation Challenge 2026' and unveiled the summit souvenir and handbook of the new bus service.

An MoU was signed between MPYPIL and Rapido for improving first- and last-mile connectivity.
