New Delhi: A few days after the violence in north-east Delhi state government on Saturday issued an advisory stating that strict action will be taken against those who spread hatred on social media.

To calm the tense atmosphere of Delhi, the government here on Saturday decided to issue a Whats app number for People to complain about the inflammatory content (Hate material). Complaints received on Vanhats app will be screened and action will be taken by the police

The Delhi government said that a lot of inflammatory content (videos, messages, audio) is circulating on WhatsApp.

If anyone receives such material then they should immediately report it to the Delhi government. WhatsApp number will be issued by Delhi government, on which such complaints can be made. Screening of complaints received will be done. Police will take necessary action on genuine complaints.

Police said that if anyone receives provocative material, they can lodge a complaint on cyber helpline number 155260 or National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. This information has also been posted from the Delhi Police's twitter handle.

On Friday, the Delhi Police had issued a statement saying that they are monitoring social media and strict action will be taken if there is any kind of message that incites communalism.
