Bhubaneswar: A man from Jagatsinghpur district allegedly killed his wife over a monetary dispute, police said on Sunday. The incident took place on Saturday night at Balarampur village. The deceased was identified as Puspalata Swain.
As per preliminary investigation, the woman wanted to withdraw the money received under a State government scheme from her bank account, but the man denied the request, leading to an argument, a police officer said.
“The irate man killed his wife by stabbing her on the neck using a sharp object and also attempted suicide. Police officers reached the site and prevented the man from taking the extreme step,” he said. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway, the officer added.
