Akkineni Foundation honours excellence
Noted Film Director and Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Dr K Viswanath, has been selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award of Akkineni Foundation of America (AFA), according to the foundation founder president, Thotakura Prasad.

Addressing media here on Thursday, Prasad said that the foundation had selected Dr Viswanath for the Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2017. The Awards function would be conducted at the Sri Convention Centre in the city on December 16.
He said that each year, the foundation awards nine eminent personalities for their services in various fields. He announced the awards to Dr MVVS Murthy (Vidya Ratna), Dr Gollapudi Maruthi Rao (Cine Ratna), Vangapandu Prasada Rao (Rangasthala Ratna), Dr VV Balakrishna Rao (Vyaapara Ratna), Dr Gudaru Jagadish (Vaidya Ratna), Mayalruri Manohar Reddy (Seva Ratna), Shakir Mohammad (Vinutna Ratna), and Captain Anne Divya (Yuvaratna).
He said that the foundation was established to propagate the life of Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao, who achieved his life's goals with hardwork and discipline. In 2014, the foundation was established and the earliest of the event were conducted in the ANR College of Gudiwada, Film Nagar in Hyderabad and Chennai in that order.
“The function would be conducted in Satrampadu in Eluru this time as the late Akkineni’s wife Annapoorna belonged to Denduluru was close to Eluru. Supreme Court judge Justice Jasti Chalameswar and other eminent persons would participate in the function,” he added.
Cine Distributor Dr VV Balakrishna Rao was seen at the media conference.
