As a part of this promotion, Mori panchayat in Sakhinetipalli Mandal has been chosen as ideal village for change from the present lighting system to LED mode.

The programme has been taken up under PPP in association with Tej Lights Company of Diau and Daman, the union territory which promotes renewable energy in a big way and known as RESCO (Renewable Energy Servicing Company) signed an MoU with AP government.

Under this programme, all the village panchayats will have LED lighting system replacing the existing lights.

Thus, all the street lights will be replaced with LED lights and the makeover is expected to save power to the extent of 50 percent.

With 50 percent savings through this adoption the company will collect 30 percent under PPP and the rest of 20 will be credited to the account of respective panchayat.

East Godavari NREDCAP (New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP) executive engineer J Nani Babu said that total of 329 existing street lights were replaced by Tej lights company in the model in Mori village.

The system along with Fiber Grid network and village with defecation free and cashless tractions was declared by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recently.

In the second and subsequent phases every village head quarter’s in all 62 mandals will be covered. Later, all the 1,016 village panchayats will have the LED lamps facility.

This process is expected to save big for the respective panchayats in the form of power and in financial aspect as well, the EE said.
