Tirupati: Villagers again not allowed the Municipal Corporation tractors and dumpers carrying garbage from city for dumping in the municipal dump yard located near C Rampuram village near here, since Tuesday evening, leaving the corporation authorities in a fix. The villagers who lifted their five day road blockade on last Saturday resumed it after a gap of just two days.

Though the villagers of Rampuram and other hamlets near the dump yard agreed to allow the garbage trucks at a meeting convened by Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) here on Monday after Municipal Corporation Commissioner C Hari Kiran assured all the measures required will be taken to see that no pollution whatsoever happen to the village because of the dumping of the garbage in the dumping yard near the village.

The Commissioner backed with the reports from government laboratories which analyzed the water samples taken from the bore wells near the dump yard, categorically stated that there was no proof of any water pollution due to the dump yard.

While the leaders of political parties and others convinced on Commissioner’s version and appealed the villagers and others not to obstruct the municipal vehicles to dump the garbage in the yard which was used by the corporation since 12 years in the interests of the people of Tirupati and also visiting pilgrims.

Against the assurance given by the villagers in the meeting the vehicles carrying garbage from the city were obstructed by a group of people on the road leading to the yard on Tuesday evening onwards despite the authorities to give up the stir keeping view of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to inaugurate Celkon factory near here on Thursday. The road blockade still continued when reports last came in on Wednesday (6 pm).
