Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman M T Krishna Babu on Monday inaugurated the domestic cargo from Coastal Cargo Berth (CCB). With the launching of the CCB services, the trade between the East and West Coasts covering 10 major states will be benefited with cheaper transport prices.

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman M T Krishna Babu on Monday inaugurated the domestic cargo from Coastal Cargo Berth (CCB). With the launching of the CCB services, the trade between the East and West Coasts covering 10 major states will be benefited with cheaper transport prices.

As part of Sagarmala project, the CCB was developed at a cost of Rs 45.30 crore. The Centre has given financial help of Rs 30 crore for CCB. The CCB with a length of 185 meters, a width of 10.45 meter and dredge depth of 9 meters. The capacity of vessel is 1.66 MTPA. With this new facility cargo will be shifted through shipment for domestic needs. The cargo including petroleum products, iron ore, finished iron, bauxite and fertilizers, liquid raw materials, rice, wheat, sugar and lime stones could be transported through the CCB at cheaper cost.

While flagging off the first coastal shipment vessel, All Cargo Sushila, loaded with building material, VPT Chairman Krishna Babu said it was a good opportunity for domestic cargo transportation at cheaper price. Indigenous ships can directly enter the green channel berth for loading and unloading without any difficulties.
