Tirumala: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Joint Executive Officer KS Sreenivasa Raju along with Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty inspected the queue line arrangements in Tirumala on Friday for the upcoming mega religious event of Vaikuntha Ekadasi which falls on December 29.

As part of it, they inspected the 2.35 km queue line starting from Gogarbham dam junction near Kalyana Vedika to VQC to junction. Later speaking to media, the JEO said after Garuda Seva among the major religious events in Tirumala temple, pilgrims throng in large numbers on this auspicious day of Vaikuntha Ekadasi to have "Uttara Dwara Darshanam."

"Earlier we had provided darshan to nearly 1.70 lakh pilgrims on Vaikuntha Ekadasi and Dwadasi. As the auspicious day is falling on Friday this year, due to Dhanurmasa Pujas and Abhisheka Kainkaryam, we can provide darshan to common pilgrims in 39-40 hours on Ekadasi and Dwadasi. As the pilgrims want to have Uttara Dwara darshan on Vaikuntha Ekadasi on first day itself we will allow the pilgrims into the compartments by 10 am onwards on December 28.

To check pilgrims rush we have set up barricades stretching up to 1.8 km in Narayanagiri Gardens, Alwar Tank and a new line of 2.35 km from Gogarbham Junction to VQC 2 junction for the sake of multitude of visiting pilgrims. We have also planned food and water arrangements in a big way for this important occasion," he added.

To provide security cover to pilgrims from snakes near Gogarbham forest area, the TTD engaged snake catchers. Apart from this, snake repellent chemical powders will be sprayed all along the queue line by health department on regular basis, the JEO added. He also inspected the ongoing works for renovation of Vakula Mata Potu inside the temple.

As tens of thousands of pilgrims are expected to converge for Vaikuntha Ekadasi Dwara Darshan, over 1,400 police from different parts of the districts and also from neighbouring states are going to be engaged for the mega religious event, said Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty.

He also said crime parties will also be deployed to prevent thefts. "We ensure fool proof security cover to pilgrims in co-ordination with TTD Vigilance department," he maintained. SE II Ramachandra Reddy, EE Prasad, T Venkateswarulu, Deputy EO Annaprasadam Venugopal and other officers were present.
