Kakinada: NSS district programme officer Dr PV Krishna Rao has said that the organisation is a good platform to serve the needy and advised the students to join NSS, which is an opportunity to serve the people.
Participating in an awareness programme conducted on NSS at MS Naicker Degree College here on Thursday evening, he asked the students to inculcate the habit of serving society from student life.
Thousands of students were working in NSS across the country and participating in many social service programmes. In some areas, they adopted rural areas.
Participating in NSS programmes would benefit the students a lot in their future. NSS also helps to identify the problems in rural areas when they visit the villages, he averred.
The college managements should also encourage students to participate in social service activities, he added.
The college principal and NSS programme officer Dr CHCSVV Ramana Murthi said many students were coming forward to join NSS and also showing interest to serve the people. The college was encouraging the students to join NSS, he added.
Later, chief guest Dr PV Krishna Rao was felicitated.
