Amaravati: The state government has successfully achieved higher visibility in the capital city construction works within a short period, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

He instructed the officials to continue the same tempo, quality and spirit to achieve maximum progress in the construction of five towers of Secretariat and the offices of the Heads of Departments within the next eight months.

In a teleconference with the officials of AP Capital Regional Development Authority (APCRDA), Naidu set the deadline of May 2019to complete the construction of Secretariat and HoDtowers including core wall upto 20 floors, diagrid and deck slab upto nine floors.

He asked the officials to speed up the construction works without compromising on quality and highlight the progress of work. “Amaravati is a people’s capital. It is an outcome of strong desire of five crore Andhrites for their own capital.

Farmers gave 33,000 acres of land worth Rs 50,000 crore for capital construction without seeking a single paisa. As the people want their dream of best world-class capital city into a reality soon, we have no option except to work hard round-the-clock,” he said.

The officials informed Naidu that they were planning to complete the entire construction of Secretariat and HoDs' towers within a period of 29 months from the beginning of work. They also said the trunk infrastructure works were also gaining momentum.

“Over 86 per cent of seed access road construction in the capital city area has already been completed while some other roads are at various stages of construction. Housing works are also on the fast track,” Amaravati Development Corporation chairperson Lakshmi Parthasarathi informed to the Chief Minister.

Naidu opined the rapid progress in Amaravati and key features of people’s capital should be reflected in the tableau of APCRDA on Independence Day celebrations. The tableau should also display the potentiality of Amaravati, which helps the overall economic development of the state.

Stating that the entire world is looking towards Amaravati, Naidu said as Amaravati has become the centre of attraction to investors, administrators, ambassadors and NRIs across the globe as they are frequently visiting it.

Stressing the need for maintaining world-class standards in the construction works, he instructed the APCRDA commissioner to ensure third party quality check with global experts.

Principal Secretary to Energy and CRDA Ajay Jain informed the Chief Minister that they were studying the Japan model of third party quality check apart from the existing system. Naidu instructed the officials to adopt unique public participation programmes from August to make the capital city more accessible to state people.

“Interaction with people through seminars, workshops, using social media platforms to involve them in capital construction is inevitable,” he said. “I am confident that the Amaravati will definitely become a knowledge-driven economy. I want people’s cooperation for building the world’s best and the happiest capital city,” Naidu said.

Municipal administration minister P Narayana said the APCRDA was working with weekly plans for construction of multi-storeyed apartments for legislatures, senior officers and staff to reach the targets. He said the CRDA was working with a target to provide infrastructure and other facilities.

Special secretary to CM Satish Chandra, principal secretary to CM, G Sai Prasad, CRDACommissioner Ch Sreedhar and several officials participated in the teleconference.
