Guntur: District collector Kona Sasidhar directed the district administration to be ready to face another cyclone which is expected on December 16 and 17. He conducted a video conference with officials from the collectorate here on Thursday.
Speaking on this occasion, Sasidhar said they had set up cyclone control rooms in mandals and towns and alerted the people and added that they had identified 35 cyclone-prone mandals where fishermen reside in the district. The collector said 135 boats were on the sea which have to return.
He said special officers were appointed and officials were instructed to keep sufficient stocks of food items and drinking water at the cyclone relief centres. He directed the RWS officials to keep ready drinking water reserves, diesel for generators and medical teams at the centres.
