Hyderabad: Telecom operator Idea Cellular on Thursday launched 4G services in some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The two Telugu states are part of Idea’s first phase roll-out of these services in five south Indian states which also include Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Idea is initially offering the high-speed 4G LTE services in 15 towns and cities across the two Telugu states. Major locations in the list include Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajamundry and Kadapa. However, Hyderabad will get these services by March 2016 while towns like Guntur and Kakinada will get by the end of this month. “Worldwide, 4G technology is gaining widespread acceptance with global 4G subscriptions crossing 1 billion mark. The launch of Idea 4G LTE services will further expand Idea’s wireless broadband network and propel the brand to an even higher growth trajectory, consolidating its market position,” said Himanshu Kapania, Managing Director, Idea Cellular.

The 4G services are available in 75 towns and cities across south India. Idea customers with 4G devices can now start experiencing superfast speeds by simply upgrading their existing SIM cards to new 4G SIM cards. The company is also offering attractive subscription plans to digital content including a wide range of the latest music and movies. It also partnered with leading handset manufacturers and e-commerce retailers for special data bundling offers on 4G smartphones.

Idea has received over a million 4G services requests from existing customers on its pre-book offer. It is looking to cover 750 cities across its 10 telecom circles by June 2016.
