Tirupati: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Dr Kodela Siva Prasad and Chittoor MP N Siva Prasad demanded the Congress Working Committee (CWC) to put on hold the Telangana State formation process before the appointment of proposed official committee to address the grievances of people in the Seemandhra region in the case of State bifurcation.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Dr Kodela found fault with the comments of some Congress leaders that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s letter to Telangana issue forced the Congress leadership to take a decision on State division.
“Can UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi tell that the decision taken by CWC was only based on Naidu’s letter? If Sonia Gandhi asks TDP chief to submit a letter to roll back the decision he will certainly do,’’ Kodela questioned. He alleged that all the Congress MPs and Ministers had no guts to speak with Sonia Gandhi about the issue and none of them met her or AK Antony and explained about the feelings of Seemandhra people Some senior Congress leaders and MPs knew about the division of the State much earlier before Dighvijay Singh’s announcement on July 31, he added.
“Congress leaders including some Ministers are purchasing lands at various places after taking inputs from the Congress high command over the establishment of new capital in Seemandhra region. The Congress leaders, who were elevated as Union Ministers, never thought about the issues of Seemandhra people and the impact on development with the decision of State division,’’ he said.
The Chittoor MP stated that TDP MPs were not afraid of suspension from the house and hence continued their protests seeking justice to people in the region. Congress MPs from the State were mere spectators when the TDP MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha, he added.
He also said that the Sonia Gandhi’s aides were trying to dilute the ongoing agitations in Seemandhra region and the TDP MPs handed over video footage on Samaikyandhra agitations. The YSRCP cadres and local leaders at all assembly constituencies undertook relay hunger strikes in support of YS Jagan’s fast in Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad. The MLC Dr. D Tippa Reddy was on relay hunger strike in support of YS Jagan in Madanapalle in which Mr. Mithun Reddy, son of former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy took part.
The former legislator Mr. AS Manohar has also joined the relay hunger strike in Chittoor town in solidarity to YS Jagan’s fast.
In Satyavedu, the mandal convener Niranjan Reddy and in Palamaneru the former legislator Amaranatha Reddy were on relay hunger strike. In Punganur Muslim minorities extended solidarity to YSRCP’s relay hunger strikes and joined the stir.
