Tirupati/Madanapalle/Anaparti: Samaikyandhra agitators on Friday damaged the car of Nandyal MP S P Y Reddy at Madanapalle, while protesters hurled eggs at Puthalapattu MLA Ravi’s vehicle at Bangarupalyam in Chittoor district. The MP was not travelling in the car, but its glass panes were broken in the incident. The agitators later spoke with the MP over telephone and demanded his resignation in support of Samaikyandhra.

The agitators resorted to the attacks on vehicles to highlight their demand that the MP and the MLA should resign from their posts. They hit out at Ravi for ‘staying away’ from the agitation and raised ‘MLA, go back’ slogans, resulting in tension for some time. This forced him to leave the spot.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed near Balabhadrapuram bridge in Bikkavole mandal of East Godavari district after Peddapuram CI Somasekar allegedly beat some women residents of Balavaram and Donthamuru villages.

The incident took place when the women were on their way to Komaripalem. After assaulting the women, the CI took them away in a jeep. The villagers then staged a ‘rasta roko’ demanding the immediate suspension of the CI. This resulted in a traffic jam. The Ramachandrapuram DSP’s efforts to persuade the villagers to call off their protest did not bear fruit.
