When Krishna Vamsi turned emotional

Speaking at the teaser launch of ‘Govindudu Andarivadele’ (GA) in Hyderabad on Thursday, the film’s director Krishna Vamsi turned emotional remembering his association with Chiranjeevi.

Stating that most people are unaware of his equation with the actor-turned-politician, he said, “When I was shooting an ad with him early last decade, he drove to the sets in a Land Cruiser worth Rs 75 lakh. I asked him, ‘Annaya, give me the car.’ Immediately after 15 days I get a call to meet him. When I met him at his house, he gave the SUV keys and asked me to keep it as his gift. I said, ‘Annaya I don’t accept gifts’. But he said, ‘Now that you’ve addressed me as Annaya, you should take the car’,” said Vamsi in a choked voice. “I was to do a film with him, but I don’t know whether it’s my bad luck or the audiences’, the film didn’t materialise.”
