Nalgonda: Nagarjuna Reddy, an eighth class student who went missing on Friday made a suicide bid on Saturday by setting himself ablaze with petrol at Chillakallu village of Jaggayyapeta mandal in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

A native of Kothur village and student of Chaitanya Concept School in Huzurnagar in the district, Nagarjuna left a suicide note behind alleging that some of his classmates accused him of stealing Rs 500. The note indicated that he would end his life. Officials of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights have sent notices to higher officials asking them to investigate the case and trace the boy immediately.

As the incident created sensation in the district, the police have also taken the matter seriously and swung into action to trace him. According to the information, Nagarjuna Reddy set himself ablaze near a petrol bunk at Chillakallu village in Krishna district. Noticing it, the local people shifted him to Jaggayyapeta government
hospital. He suffered 90 per cent burn injuries and his condition is said to be critical.
