​Hyderabad: Central Zone task force team on Thursday arrested two persons for preparing and circulating fake education certificates.

The arrested were identified as Namit Kumar Chowdary of Kolkata and P Karthik of Hyderabad. Police seized as many as 170 fake certificates and 72 fake rubber stamps of various universities, four laptops, one colour printer and other incriminating material from the accused.

Police said that Namit, a native of Bihar, was the kingpin of the racket who has been running an educational consultancy in Kolkata through which he supplied fake educational certificates since 2014.

Over the period, he had developed a network of 46 agents across the country that got orders, after which he prepared fake certificates and handed them over to the agents. The gang had been selling certificates up to Rs 1 lakh each, police said.

The arrested persons along with seized material were handed over to Banjara Hills where they were remanded in custody.
