Protests against the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh continued in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of the State on Sunday. The staff of polytechnic colleges in Andhra and Rayalaseema areas served a notice on the Government to strike work from September 12. The Polytechnic staff JAC leader Chandrasekhar told the media at Visakhapatnam that the staff, however, would attend to work related to EAMCET counseling between September 12 and 15 in the interests of students.

Agitators held rasta-roko on Bangalore highway in Anantapur district, resulting in stranding of vehicles. Women blocked the Kakinada-Rajahmundry route in East Godavari, disrupting traffic. In West Godavari district, the Undi TDP MLA Venkata Sivarama Raju staged rasta roko on the main road in the get-up of a fisherman along with fishermen of the region. He stated that should the State be bifurcated, aquaculture would be affected due to non-availability of water.
In Bhimavaram, Minister Viswaroop vowed to resign from the Congress party if it did not reconsider its decision to bifurcate the State by November 1, the state formation day. Earlier, the Samaikyandhra agitators surrounded him and raised slogans demanding his resignation from the ministry and the party. In Prakasam district, the police foiled the fast of TDP leader Karanam Venkatesh at Addanki on its sixth day. They admitted him to RIMS, Ongole, where doctors force-fed him fluids.
