Fathe Nagar: Uncleared garbage at Fathe Nagar is taking a toll on people’s health. The garbage dumps have become mosquito breeding grounds and have become the main reason for the spread of diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya etc among the residents living in the vicinity.

Moreover, disposal of toxic wastes and polythene on the roads and open nalas have made it difficult for even the passersby to breathe in. Bad odour lingering in the atmosphere at Fathe Nagar causes suffocation to those living in the vicinity. Moreover, the sight of pigs roaming near the openly discarded trash piles and the open nalas is causing inconvenience, especially to the regular commuters.

Unfortunately, the lack of apathy in denizens towards a clean and hygienic society too is adding to the woes. “Government and GHMC pay to people who come with a mini truck to collect garbage and every month they charge 70 rupees from us. Is it necessary to collect from us? It’s an order by GHMC to collect garbage not money from everyone’s house, and they are not supposed to charge for it because the government is already paying for them. After politicians, they are the richest people in our country” complains Sumeet Sharma, a resident of Fathenagar.

Despite several complaints to the GHMC officials, no action has been taken yet and the concerned authorities were not available for comment.
