Tandur: Political atmosphere in the town turned hot on Sunday following registration of a case on the alleged attempts to install an idol without permission and efforts by the recently expelled TRS Tandur leader Rohith Reddy, in the name of ‘Young Leaders’, trying to meet daily people in Peddamul, Bashirabad, Yalal and Tandur mandals.

Reddy has been calling upon youth to join politics as they alone can usher in positive political changes in society, while addressing awareness programmes. He has plans to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections. During one such programme, representatitves of the Swamy Vivekananda Yuvajana Sangham unveiled a statue of Vivekananda in government land.

Following a complaint lodged by local Sarpanch B Papamma, the police registered a case against Young Leaders’ Foundation president Rohith Reddy and his follower Kiran Koti.

However, the sarpanch in a statement denied that she had lodged a complaint. She said permission for the statue has been given in a resolution adopted by the panchayat. She questioned how the police could register a case without a complaint.

Rohith Reddy contended that the case was an attempt to crush him politically. He alleged that the false case was registered following the pressure brought by some ‘bada’ leaders, while speaking to The Hans India. Reddy claimed that it was an attempt to defame him and that he would not be cowed down by such cases.
