Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud came to the rescue of a six-year-old cancer patient, Gagan Deep, who was admitted in Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital, Banjara Hills. The boy’s father, K Veerendra Kumar, a resident of Boudhanagar, Secunderabad, was unable to bear the expenses of the treatment and on knowing this the minister took up the case with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to help the poor boy.
The chief minister’s office promptly responded and issued an order on Thursday to start treatment on the boy and Rs 5 lakh was deposited for the same. The CMO’s letter also stated that the hospital could claim reimbursement by producing the bills. The excise minister promised to bear the extra cost of the treatment.
