girlVempalli (Kadapa): A six-year-old girl, who fell into an abandoned 60-feet deep bore well, was rescued by villagers at Kumarampalli of Vempalli mandal in the district on Wednesday. Lingala Amulya (6) went to the field, where her parents Hanumanthu and Subbamma were watering the ground nut crop in the morning. She suddenly slipped and fell into the nearby bore well while she was playing. Her parents immediately sought the help of farmers working in the fields and other villagers. They found that the girl was stuck at a depth of around 30 feet, where her voice was still audible to people outside the well. The locals tied saris to a rope and lowered it into the bore well. They continued communicating with her and told her to hold the cloth tightly. The girl was pulled out safely much to the relief of her parents, who have only one child. Except a few scratches, the girl was in good health. The casing pipe was removed after the bore well dried up and it was not covered by the owner of the field posing a danger. Revenue officials said that with timely action from the villagers, the girl was saved.
